From dreadlocks to bears, a company is appealing to the wider community to join their fundraising challenge to shave it all for charity.
Members of staff of International Logistics Centre Limited, based in Newark, have been challenged to brave the shave on September 18 at 4pm, to raise funds for Reach Learning Disability.
The idea came from the company owner, Andrew Morris, who was chatting with his friend Jonathan Cobb, who is also the property manager at the charity, and from an idea it grew into a plan.
The international export packers team is made up entirely of men, who have been encouraged to grow out their facial hair ahead of the big day.
“Choosing Reach was an easy decision. Not only do we have personal connections – with Jonny as their Property Manager and his wife as the Fundraising Officer – but we also greatly admire the charity’s work supporting people with learning disabilities in our local Nottinghamshire community,” said Emma Clarkson, the company’s business development manager.
The company owner, Andrew, is currently under pressure to lose his locks, and Johnny from Reach Learning Disability, known for his beard, which he has had since his teenage years, will also be taking part.
However, those wanting to support without donating money, are encouraged to take part in the challenge, either by going to their Newark site on the day or taking part remotely.
Emma added: “Whether you want to part with your beard, moustache, or go the whole hog and shave your head, you can get involved.”
“It’s a brilliant way to work with a local charity we respect and to create a fun team-building moment for our staff.
“We’re looking forward to the laughs, the photos, and the amazing difference it will make.”
